There are lots of people whose guitar playing I've heard called over rated. Clapton's one, Keith Richards is another, Bob Dylan is a third. I'd settle for having the skills of any one of them.

Compared to John McLaughlin, Robert Fripp, Steve Howe, and a host of others of his generation, Clapton is unquestionably overrated as a guitarist in my view.
